Nihongo Machine User Guide

Title Bar - The name of the program, the name of the company, and the program name in Hiragana.

Card Front Preferences - Each card contains 6 fields of information. You can choose which fields you want to have displayed when the card is shown. For example, you may want to see only the Kanji on the front of the card and then have Kanji and English displayed on the back of the card. Check the boxes which contain the information you want to see when the back of the card is displayed.

Card Back Preferences - Each card contains 6 fields of information. You can choose which fields you want to have displayed when the card is shown. For example, you may want to see only the Kanji on the front of the card and then have Kanji and English displayed on the back of the card. Check the boxes which contain the information you want to see when the back of the card is displayed.

Flash Card Mode / Test Mode Selector Buttons - There are 2 main sections in the Nihongo Machine; the Flash Card section and the Test section. Click on these buttons to switch between the 2 sections.

Auto Flash Mode Selector - You can view the flash cards by clicking on the Next and Previous buttons on the Flash Card screen or you can have them flip ant regular intervals. Select 'Automatic' to have the cards flash at regular intervals

Word List Title - The name of the currently open word list.

Flash Style Selector - When looking at the flash cards, you can choose to view only the front of each card, or view the front and then the back of each card.

Auto Flash Timing Preferences - When Auto Flash Mode Selector is selected, the cards will flash at regular intervals. Enter the number of seconds that you want to have the front and/or back of each card displayed.

OK Button - Click on this button to save your settings and return to the Flash Card screen.

Default Settings Button - Click on this button to have the default settings applied to this screen.

Load Word List Button - Click on this button to load a new word list. See the Load List section for additional information.
